The National Security and Armed Conflict Law Review is happy to announce that it will host its annual symposium Friday, November 20, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in the University of Miami Student Activities Center.
This year, we will examine The Rise of Leaderless Resistance: The Changing nature of Domestic Terrorism in the United States.
Since 2001, world events have drawn the focus of security services to the threat of Islamic Jihadists, largely to the exclusion of various other forms of domestic extremism. In fact, the Southern Poverty Law Center estimates that between 2009 and 2014, an act of domestic terrorism was carried out or foiled on average, every 34 days; and recent events in Charleston, South Carolina provide a timely example that there is a fine line between crimes, hate crimes, and terrorism.
